Park, located at North Grandview Avenue, offers a softball diamond, playground

and Botanical Gardens is in Marshall Park, 3125 W. 32nd St. The Arboretum
contains ornamental shrubs and trees in landscape displays, as well as native
trees and wildflowers along the walking trails. The Botanical Gardens are
collections of annual and perennial cultivated flowers and vegetables. These
include hybrid, miniature and old roses; bulbs, prairie grasses, flowers and
all-American selections. The Educational Center contains a library and reading
room, interpretive displays, meeting rooms, information, office, greenhouse and

Point Park is a scenic blufftop park that provides an excellent view of the
river and a corner of the tri-states. The 164-acre park offers unique shelter
buildings, sunken gardens, picnic facilities, playgrounds, benches, fireplaces,
wading pool, pavilions exposing river and land scenery and lighted tennis

"Red" McAleece Park and Recreation Complex, on Admiral Sheehy Drive, on
Chaplain Schmitt Island, offers three lighted softball diamonds, John Petrakis
Field, a lighted regulation baseball field, playground equipment, picnic
tables, volleyball courts and two regulation adult soccer fields. * Heritage
Trail, three miles north of Dubuque, off U.S. 52. Twenty-six miles of a once
bustling railroad track have been converted into a recreational trail. Enjoy

southeast of Holy Cross, provides camping, hiking, fishing and stream wading. * City

State Park, 510 acres, has picnic spots, camping facilities and views of
Mississippi River. Also has unusual one-acre butterfly garden with 37 species
of butterflies, each with its own food plot. Some plants are grown to provide
nourishment for caterpillars, while others are grown to provide nectar for
adult butterflies. Hiking trails in the Nelson Unit lead to conical Indian
mounds attributed to the Woodland Culture. Open pavilions provide room for
large groups. Fresh drinking water, rest rooms and plenty of parking throughout

Park, adjacent to municipal pool, has ball diamonds and playground equipment. * John
Henry Weber Park, seven miles northwest of Bellevue on U.S. 52, provides picnic
grounds and hiking trails. * Mill
Creek Park, south edge of Bellevue, has cement boat ramp and dock in
Mississippi River for easy access. * Spruce
Creek County Park, two miles north of Bellevue on U.S. 52, has facilities for
picnicking camping, hiking, trailer dump station, boat harbor with docks for 60
boats, two cement boat ramps, 80 campsites on Mississippi River. Maquoketa, IA* Maquoketa Caves State Park,
eight miles northwest of Maquoketa on Iowa 428, has the largest natural bridge
in the Midwest, 17 tons of balanced rock, 13 caves. * Joinerville
Park, four miles west and one-and-a-half miles north of Maquoketa on Iowa 62,
eight acres bordering south fork of the Maquoketa River, with camping,
picnicking, toilets, water, fishing and concrete boat ramp. This is a major
recovery point for canoers who float the South Fork of the Maquoketa River. * Eden
Valley Park, south of Baldwin, provides camping, fishing, hiking trails,
lookout trails and swinging bridge. * Blackhawk
Wildlife Area, three miles west on Iowa 64 and two miles north, offers hiking
and scenic overlooks. Preston, IA* Two Good Park, Peppermint Park
and Westside Park. Each park has playground equipment and benches for sitting.
Two Good Park and Westside Park each have shelters, picnic tables and rest
rooms. Westside Park has tennis courts, volleyball nets and horseshoe pits. * Cooper
Creek Trail, located on the northside of town and goes by the industrial park.
Available for walking and jogging. Apple River, IL* Apple River City Park, in center of
town. Picnic tables, grills, playground, latrines, shelters, softball, baseball. East Dubuque, IL* Dunleith
Park District and Pool, north off Illinois 35 near high school, located at the
end of Parklane Drive, with picnic tables, shelters, grills, rest rooms,

overlooking the Mississippi River with 26 ceremonial and burial mounds from the
Hopewell Native American culture, circa 200 B.C.-500 AD. Picnic areas. * Frentress Family Cemetery, located
on a bluff with scenic vistas is the last resting place for family members from
East Dubuque's first permanent settlers. The 2.66 acre park offers walking
trails and a view of Frentress Lake. Elizabeth, IL* Long Hollow Tower and Scenic
Overlook, west on U.S. 20, with picnic tables, shelters, rest rooms, lookout
tower. * Tapley Woods Wayside is west on
U.S. 20 with picnic tables, drinking water. Galena, IL* Recreation
Park and Alice T. Virtue Memorial Pool and Water Park on north side of Galena
on Stagecoach Trail offers picnic tables, grills, shelters, rest rooms,
playground, concession stand, sand volleyball, baseball, softball, horseshoes,
swimming pool and water park. Water park features a 131-foot water slide, main

19th-century fountain, gazebo, band shelter, picnic tables, playground, statue
of U.S. Grant. Park overlooks city and Galena River. Walk-bridge spanning
Galena River connects park with Main Street. Hanover, IL* Speer Park, on the north side of
the Apple River, with picnic tables, playground and fast-water fishing. * White Park, on the south side of
the Apple River, with picnic tables, playground and fast-water fishing below
Crescent Falls Dam. Scales Mound, IL* Scales Mound City Park, on north
side of Scales Mound, near town hall, with picnic tables, grills, playground,
latrines, shelter, basketball and original bandstand. * High Point Park, on the south end
of Scales Mound, near the fire station, with picnic tables, shelter, softball,
baseball, concession stand and rest rooms. Stockton, IL* Stockton
Memorial Park has picnicking facilities, shelter house, field house,
shuffleboard courts, baseball, softball, basketball court, swimming pool open
to public and playground equipment; tennis courts west of high school. * Kidstown, south of U.S. 20, on
Pearl Street, south of Memorial Park near school, with variety of creative
playground equipment, including swings, slides, rocking platforms, bridges,
climbers, puppet theater, phone system and picnic tables. Handicapped accessible. Warren, IL* Meridian
Park and Pool, on west edge of Warren, with picnic tables, grills, shelters,
playground, rest rooms, baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, sand volleyball

State Park, 10 miles from Prairie du Chien. The Wisconsin River was the pathway
for early explorers and fur traders. Park has campgrounds, picnic facilities,
hiking and nature trails. Boscobel, WI* Kronsage Park, rest rooms,
playground facilities, softball diamonds, tennis courts, three shelters,
volleyball, basketball and horseshoe courts. Swimming pool and school athletic
area nearby. * West Side Park has rest rooms,
shelter, playground area, basketball court and a softball diamond. * Memorial Park features playground
facilities and a monument dated 1907 for the Unknown Soldier, honoring the

north of Cassville, includes campsites, rest rooms, showers, playground,
overlook, large shelter house with fireplaces and water, three miles of hiking
trails, quarter-mile self-guided nature trail, picnic areas with water, grills,
tables and facilities for handicapped. Open all year. Open house June 2, free
admission 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Fennimore, WI* Marsden Park has picnic area,
swimming, playground, rest rooms, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts. * Oakwood Park, a 45-acre nature
park, offers visitors a glimpse of native trees and flowers, with a wide
variety of birds available for bird lovers to view. The park offers more than
three miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails. RV camping is available

pool and concert band stage. Potosi-Tennyson, WI* Grant River
Public Use Area, built by the U.S. Corps of Engineers for picnicking, boating,
camping and other recreation. It is two-and-a-half miles south of Potosi on the
